The Obligatory Biography PageHey! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Gavin Shearer. I'm native to (and live in) Seattle, Washington. I make my living as a Program Manager in Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit. I joined Microsoft as a Product Planner in August of 2005, after completing my MBA at the University of Washington. I kicked off my Microsoft experience in Summer '04, when I was a Product Planner MBA Intern between my first and second years of business school. Before arriving at the Empire, my professional background was spent as an entrepreneur - my business partners and I had an Internet Service Provider in the mid-'90s, and a Web development company in the late '90s and early 2000's. We sold the ISP to Verio in March of 1997, and shut down the Web company after the dot-com crash of 2001. (I have to say, it's been interesting to see both sides of an exit strategy.) Um ... let's see, other things about me. In addition to being a bit of an Apple fanboy, I am a huge fan of the Seattle Storm (our WNBA franchise), love to walk around the city, run races from time to time, and am a roller coaster maniac. Over the past couple years, I've been surprised (and gratified) by the people I've met and the e-mail I've exchanged with people through this site. Blogging, more than anything, is all about people. If you're so inclined, feel free to drop me a line - it's gavin [at] gavinshearer [dot com]. |
