SEATTLE, WA — Just 72 hours after Yash Gupta, Dean of the University of Washington Business School, announced his departure to head the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, the UW has found a replacement - Randolph Westerfield, the former dean of USC's own Marshall School of Business.

Westerfield, who stepped down from the prestigious head of the University of Southern California on June 30, 2003, made the surprise announcement today in a press conference.

"Gupta is moving in on my turf," said Westerfield. "We'll see how he likes it."

While salary, benefits and other compensation are still being negotiated, Westerfield expressed confidence in his ability to come to terms with the University of Washington staff. Dan Poston, Director of the UW MBA program, concurred.

"Randolph Westerfield will bring to the UW a phenomenal amount of experience and capability. He is an outstanding choice to help us build our program and grow the next generation of leaders here in the Pacific Northwest and across the country."

Added Poston: "Neener, neener."

Westerfield's start date is tentatively scheduled as September 1, 2004.
