"Campus radio station broadcasts world-wide on Internet"

(Bellingham, WA) - Western Washington University's Campus/Community
radio station, KUGS, 89.3 FM, open a window to the world at
<URL:http://pacificrim.net/~kugs>. KUGS broadcasts live on the internet
beginning Jan 9. The entire globe will be able to tap into one of the
nation's most innovative college radio stations. KUGS is the first
radio station west of the Mississippi to venture onto the information
superhighway.

Computer users with a direct connection to the internet can listen to
the best in modern rock music while peering into the "KUGS Fishtank."
(The "Fishtank" is a relaxing, live picture of the official KUGS aquarium.)

To reach KUGS on the internet, users need to run a World Wide Web
client (like NCSA's "Mosaic" or Mosaic Communication Corporation's
"NetScape"). The KUGS address is: <URL:http://pacificrim.net/~kugs>.
Interested parties can send KUGS e-mail at kugs@pacificrim.net.

"Our student volunteers work hard to give Whatcom County a quality
product," said Keith Boyd, program director. "We're excited about the
chance to broadcast our sound around the world!"

Western, with over 10,000 students, is the third largest public
university in Washington State. KUGS is student supported and staffed.
The station broadcast modern rock music during the week along with news
and information. Specialty music programming (blues, soul, acoustic,
world) is broadcast on the weekends.
