« iPhone 3GS | Main | "Up" In 3-D » June 8, 2009A Quick Word About Street Food
Recently, we caught the "Vancouver" episode of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations which featured Japadog on Burrard. This got the two of us thinking a lot about hot dogs - really good, really flavorful, sauerkraut-encrusted, mustard-drenched ones. (Chili optional.) Yelp is your friend: "Dog In The Park", they say, is the place to go. So we did. And we love it. "Dog In The Park" is located at the northern tip of Westlake Park, just up from the See's Candy and facing Westlake mall. It's about 6 feet of fronting, has a single, electric grill, and serves some awesome dogs. (I'm hooked on the Louisiana spicy one myself.) We've been evangelizing the place, and it seems to be taking root - Richard's been going a lot of late, and took my in-laws on Saturday. Rave reviews, all. Give it a try. And if you know any other good hot dog places, well, post 'em in the comments. Posted by Gavin Shearer at June 8, 2009 12:07 PM. Posted to Cool. Trackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: CommentsIf you're ever back up north, try out "Neener Neener Wiener", near Sunset Square. (Google will do a better job of getting you there than I would.) Good dogs, with a wide variety of choices. If you feel the need to throw caution (and your diet) to the wind, you can get a dog wrapped in bacon and deep fried. :) Willow and I are fans of street food, as well. We take any excuse to hit the local festivals, mostly to look for interesting places. Posted by: Mr. Sharumpe When next visiting Capitol Hill, go to Tacos Gringos! On Olive, near Denny - close to where the Green Cat Cafe used to be. Great $2 tacos made with whatever fresh ingredients are found that day in the International District. We got rabbit tacos there once!! Chicken, Beef, and bean seem to always be an option, then something exotic. The food is yum and cheap. They are open Tues-Sat from 8 p.m. til "late" to catch the bar crowd. Get 'em to go, unless you don't mind standing around outside. I heard that they wanted to operate a cart, but the process was too much of a hassle. So they got this tiny storefront with just enough room for stove fridge and cash register.
